Hello and welcome from
Penny Evans
Founder & Maker of Garden Granola
There are many occasions when I enjoy my breakfast in the garden…sometimes first thing in the early morning sunshine, sometimes a bit later after a spontaneous burst of pruning or weeding. Either way, the feel of the breeze, the noise of the birds, the leaves on the tree and the sunshine on my face make me feel at peace and rested. I know I am being taken care of and I count my blessings.
Eating a delicious serving of Garden Granola is another way of being taken care of.
Just as we take time to nourish our soul, our bodies also need looking after, inside and out. That’s why I started making my own granolas with organic ingredients rich in essential nutrients, healthy fats and only natural sugars.
At first it was just for my family, then I began to share it with friends. I lived in Kent at the time, and Kent is called ‘The Garden of England’ for all the produce that is grown there, but it wasn’t until I moved back up north ( I’m a Yorkshire lass) that I began making it as a small business venture, and the name grew out of its roots.
There are so many links with the garden that naming my business ‘Garden Granola’ was easy. From the fruits and berries that sit on top of a good bowl of granola (and grow in our very own gardens here in the UK), down to using the empty tubs as plant pots to grow your own edibles in or store your garden seed harvest in. I think also of the ‘Garden of Eden’ in which all good things to eat grew on the trees.
And last but not least, I will always be thankful to my late husband, Rich, who shared his love of gardening with me and with our children and would chase us out to eat breakfast in the garden come spring, summer, autumn or winter, to feel the sun on our faces and enjoy being alive.
So, there is much joy for me in sharing this with you too, and my hope is that you will also feel looked after when you choose to put one of the seasonal granolas in your bowl and enjoy your breakfast in the garden.

Vision for the future ⚘
All Garden Granola products are made in my home kitchen here in Misson, a small rural village on the border of Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire. It’s a business that is growing well in the local area and there will soon come a time when it has outgrown the kitchen I have and I will need others to help me do the making. At the moment it is just me, helped from time to time by my two children. I would love to see my daughter be part of the business when she’s grown up, but she has other plans she tells me! My son on the other hand loves to help and my thoughts often turn to what he will be doing when he leaves school. Will has Down’s Syndrome, and living in a rural area there are not so many opportunities. I would love to see Garden Granola grow into a thriving local business where my son and others in his community could find employment in a worthwhile venture that brings life to work and work to life.
